體延長,縱扁。枕骨區具一平滑骨板。鰓孔背位。前鰓蓋骨強棘為頭長之0.22-~0.29倍,強棘末端向上彎曲,腹緣平滑,背緣具二至四個彎棘,基部具一強倒棘。側線從眼延伸至尾鰭第3分支鰭條的末端,具一前鰓蓋骨分支,枕骨區及尾柄背部各具一條橫向側線連接體側二側線。雄魚第一背鰭高,第I棘與第II棘延長成絲狀,雌魚第一背鰭低且不延長;第二背鰭鰭緣平直,雌、雄魚背鰭與臀鰭除最後一鰭條外,其餘鰭條均不分叉;胸鰭延伸至臀鰭第2或第3鰭條基部;尾鰭圓形,不延長呈絲狀。保存標本體呈淡棕色至土黃色,體下半部色較淡,背部具許多小深棕色點,腹部白色或橙色,生殖突起前具一白點;眼黑色;側線上方具一水平成點狀的棕線;雄魚第一背鰭淡棕色,具三條寬黑斜帶;雌魚第一背鰭淡棕色或透明,第II棘膜具二黑點;其餘各鰭雌雄魚皆透明,但尾鰭不規則散部棕點。

Callionymus hindsii, Hinds' dragonet, is a species of dragonet native to the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean where it occurs at depths down to 40 metres (130 ft). This species grows to a length of 9 centimetres (3.5 in) TL.[1] The specific name is thought to most likely to be in honour of the British naval surgeon, naturalist and writer Richard Brinsley Hinds (1811-1846).[2]
