Arundo donax (Giant Reed) is a species of shrub in the family true grasses. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Uzbekistan, India, Azerbaijan, Nepal, Western North America, Georgia, Taiwan, Egypt, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Bangladesh, Southeast Asia, Tunisia, Myanmar, Turkey, Jordan, Pakistan, Iran, China, Algeria, Iraq, Japan, Lebanon, and Israel. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2.8 m.
