Oryzias dancena or the Indian ricefish are a freshwater–brackish fish species native to the India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand. Their maximum length is only 3.1 centimetres (1.2 in). They are normally found in brackish habitats near the coast, but it lives in fresh water as well.[2][1] It is not considered threatened.[1] This species was described as Cyprinus dancena by Francis Buchanan-Hamilton in 1822 with the type locality given as "Estuary below Calcutta".[3]

Oryzias dancena is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van schoffeltandkarpers (Adrianichthyidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1822 door Hamilton.
De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2010.[1]
