The filamentous last dorsal fin rays distinguish it from any other eastern Pacific genus. Separated from other eastern Pacific Opisthonema by having only 25 to 36 lower gill rakers in fishes over 14 cm standard length.

Opisthonema bulleri és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels clupèids.[4]

Descripció

  • Pot arribar a fer 20 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 18).
  • 13-21 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 12-23 a l'anal.[5][6][7]

Alimentació

Menja crustacis i Pteropoda.[5]

Hàbitat

És un peix marí, pelàgic-nerític i de clima tropical (25°N-5°S, 109°W-77°W) que viu entre 0-50 m de fondària.[5][8]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba al Pacífic oriental: des de la Baixa Califòrnia (Mèxic) fins al Perú.[5][9][10][11][12][13]

Observacions

És inofensiu per als humans.[5]

Vissen

Opisthonema bulleri is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van haringen (Clupeidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1904 door Regan.

De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2007. De omvang van de populatie is volgens de IUCN stabiel.[1]
