Ophichthus genie is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).[1] It was described by John E. McCosker in 1999.[2] It is a marine, deep water-dwelling eel which is known from the Indo-Pacific, including New Caledonia and Maldives. It dwells at a depth range of 430 to 500 metres (1,410 to 1,640 ft). Males can reach a maximum total length of 33.7 centimetres (13.3 in).[1]
The species epithet "genie" was given in honour of ichthyologist Eugenia B. Böhlke.[1] (1929-2001), of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia.[3]

Ophichthus genie is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van slangalen (Ophichthidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1999 door McCosker.
Bronnen, noten en/of referenties金氏蛇鰻,為輻鰭魚綱鰻鱺目糯鰻亞目蛇鰻科的其中一種,分布於印度西太平洋區,從馬爾地夫至新喀里多尼亞海域,棲息深度430-500公尺,體長可達33.7公分,棲息在沙泥底質海域,為底棲性魚類,屬肉食性,生活習性不明。
