Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum, common name shiny green leaf paphiopedilum or tropical lady's-slipper, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Paphiopedilum of the family Orchidaceae.
Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum is a terrestrial orchid 30–45 centimetres (12–18 in) tall. The leaves are waxy coated, clear blue-green, oblong-elliptic and narrow, about 30 centimetres (12 in) long. The flowers are about 8–11 centimetres (3.1–4.3 in) wide. The upper sepal is green and purple striped, the lateral petals are twisted, purple mottled and hairy, the labellum is white at the base, with a progressively increasing pink-purple dotting. The labellum reaches 4.5 centimetres (1.8 in) and its shape resembles a bag or women's shoes (hence the common name of Tropical Ladys-Slipper). This species blooms repeatedly with two flowers, producing a new one once the old one is fallen. The flowering period is very long, extending from the Spring till the Winter. This species is very similar to Paphiopedilum liemianum, but the last one has intense green leaves, while in the first one they are clearer.
This species is endemic to Southeast Asia (Indonesia, East and Southwest Java (Mount Semeru, Lumajang) and in Central Sumatra).
Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum has its natural habitat in rainy volcanic mountain slopes and moist limestone cliffs. It prefers sun to partial shade and calcareous soils with mosses, at an altitude of 200–700 metres (660–2,300 ft) above sea level.

Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum es una especie de la familia de las orquídeas.
Es una orquídea de pequeño tamaño, cultivada con clima cálido, con múltiples flores, aunque sólo una está abierta a la vez. Tienen hábitos terrestres con hojas azules y verdes claras, hojas opacas en número de 4 a 6, glaucas, estrechamente oblongo-elípticas con márgenes ciliados basales. Florece desde la primavera hasta el verano en una inflorescencia pubescente, de color verde oscuro con manchas de color púrpura oscuro,de 40 cm de largo, que lleva brácteas florales elípticas a ovadas con hasta 20 flores sucesivas y con no más de 2 abiertas a la vez y que se producen durante meses.[1]
Se encuentran en el centro de Sumatra y Java, a una altura de 200-800 metros, en los depósitos de humus en las laderas de las montañas volcánicas.
Esta especie tiene que estar plantada en la roca y helechos con ligera sombra y agua todo el año a excepción de un breve reposo invernal seco.
Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum fue descrita por Johannes Jacobus Smith y publicado en Bulletin de l'Institut Botanique de Buitenzorg 7: 1. 1900.[2]
El nombre del género viene de « Cypris», Venus, y de "pedilon" = "zapato" ó "zapatilla" en referencia a su labelo inflado en forma de zapatilla.

Habitat alami Anggrek Selop berada di kawasan selatan lereng Gunung Semeru, Lumajang, Jawa Timur. Tanaman ini menjadi salah satu tanaman koleksi di Kebun Raya Purwodadi, Pasuruan, Jawa Timur.
Bagian bunga anggrek ini dapat dibedakan atas 4 helai kelopak yang terbagi atas 2 helai kelopak utama dan 2 helai kelopak samping, serta 1 labellum.
Bentuknya yang unik dan berbeda dengan anggrek pada umumnya. Keunikan bentuk bibir yang menyerupai kantung semar atau sepatu wanita (selop) ini yang menjadi ciri khasnya. Ukuran bunga Anggrek Selop ini adalah 7,5 cm dengan rincian kelopak punggung berukuran 3 cm, kelopak samping berukuran 5 cm, dan labellum berukuran 4,5 cm. Selain itu, ukuran daun Anggrek Selop dapat mencapai 30 cm dan ukuran batang Anggrek Selop dapat mencapai 45 cm.
Daya tarik utamanya terletak pada labellum atau bibir bunganya yang berbentuk kantong, berwarna ungu, dengan ornamen totol-totol di kelopak bunganya.
Di habitat aslinya, Anggrek Selop tumbuh pada daerah dengan ketinggian 450-770 m dpl dengan area tumbuh di atas tanah dan karang pada sisi bukit yang curam.
Penyilangan P. Glaucophyllum dilakukan antar bunga dari individu yang berbeda agar dapat membentuk buah dengan biji-bijinya. Dalam hal ini polinia dari individu 1 ditempelkan pada stigma (tepatnya bagian belakang tugu) dari individu 2 dan sebaliknya. Setelah penyilangan, biasanya bibir bunga P. Glaucophyllum dirusak agar tidak mengundang serangga untuk hinggap karena datangnya serangga akan mengganggu keberhasilan penyilangan tersebut.
