優灰蝶屬

Euphilotes is a genus of butterflies in the family Lycaenidae, which consists of a number of species found in western North America. Some of the species are endangered,^[1] such as the Smith's blue, Euphilotes enoptes smithi.

Euphilotes er en slekt av dagsommerfugler som tilhører undergrupper blåvinger i den store familie glansvinger (Lycaenidae).

Utseende

Små, spinkle blåvinger. Hannenes overside er blå med brun ytterkant, hunnene er brune med et kort, oransje bånd langs bakvingens bakkant. Undersiden er grå med svarte flekker, og et oransje bånd langs ytterkanten av bakvingen.

Levevis

Disse artene lever på høytliggende, tørre, steinete steder. Larvene lever på planter i slekten Eriogonum (syrefamilien). Tross at næringsplantene er vanlige og vidt utbredte danner disse sommerfuglene små, svært lokaliserte kolonier. En stor del av artene blir ansett som truet.
