"Cossura alba, new species
Record: 2:3 sta. 208 (1, TYPE).
Description: A small, pale, posteriorly incomplete specimen measures 6 mm long by 1.5 mm wide and consists of 23 anterior segments ; a tail end is lacking. The prostomium is triangular, longer than wide and narrowest in front ; it lacks eyes or other surface marks. The first segment is a complete, smooth ring resembling the second segment but lacking setae. The second segment is the first with setae; it has a neuropodial fascicle which is smaller than those farther back. The third segment is the first biramous one ; its notopodia are smaller and slenderer than those farther back.
A large, median tentacle is inserted middorsally between setigerous segments four and five, or on the sixth segment ; it is smooth and cvlindrical.
Notosetae resemble neurosetae; they are arranged in spreading fascicles, in anterior and posterior rows, the posterior rows with longer and more numerous setae ; all setae are slender, limbate and smooth along the cutting edge.
Cossura alba differs from C. laeviseta Hartmann-Schroeder, 1962, in having the median tentacle inserted between setigerous segments four and five, instead of on third setiger ; eyes are absent instead of present.

Cossura alba is een borstelworm uit de familie Cossuridae. Het lichaam van de worm bestaat uit een kop, een cilindrisch, gesegmenteerd lichaam en een staartstukje. De kop bestaat uit een prostomium (gedeelte voor de mondopening) en een peristomium (gedeelte rond de mond) en draagt gepaarde aanhangsels (palpen, antennen en cirri).
Cossura alba werd in 1967 voor het eerst wetenschappelijk beschreven door Hartman.
