Nannastacidae is a family of crustaceans belonging to the order Cumacea. They have no free telson. The endopods (interior branches) of the uropods are present on one segment. There are exopods (outer branches) on the maxillipeds and generally one on pereopods 1–4 in males and 1–2 in females. In the females the second antenna is much shorter than the first.[2] It contains the following genera:[1]

Nannastacidae is een relatief grote familie van kleine kreeftachtigen die behoort tot de orde van de Zeekomma's (Cumacea).
De Nannastacidae bezitten geen vrij telson. De endopodiet (binnenste tak) van de uropoden bestaat uit één segmentje. Er is een exopodiet (buitenste tak) op de maxillipeden en meestal één op pereopoden 1-4 bij mannetjes en 1-2 bij vrouwtjes.
Mannetjes zijn in het bezit van vijf paar pleopoden (zwempootjes). Bij de vrouwtjes is de tweede antenne veel korter dan de eerste.
De familie bestaat uit 24 geslachten (genera) en 431 soorten:[2]

От других кумовых раков отличается отсутствием свободной анальный лопасти (тельсона). Небольшие ракообразные, внешним видом тела напоминающие головастиков: покрытая панцирем вздутая головогрудь и грудной отдел (покрыты общим панцирем карапаксом) укрупнены и контрастируют с более тонким брюшком (плеоном), заканчивающимся хвостовой вилкой. Мандибулы без зубного отростка. Конечности первых пяти сегментов самцов (плеоподы) без наружного отростка наружной ветви. Уроподы (удлинённые конечности шестого сегмента) имеют 2-члениковый эндоподит (редко одночлениковый) [3][4].
Крупнейшее семейство кумовых раков. Насчитывает около 400 видов и 25 родов. Семейство было впервые выделено в 1866 году британским зоологом Чарльзом Спенсом Бейтом (Charles Spence Bate; 1819—1889). В российских водах Японского моря встречаются представители 7 родов и более 10 видов[3].
