Resident in central North America (Scott 1986). Habitats are DRY CLEARINGS, FOOTHILL CHAPARRAL, PRAIRIE. Host plants are usually herbaceous with most hosts largely restricted to a few species in one family, CRUCIFERAE. Eggs are laid on the host plant singly. Individuals overwinter as pupae. There are is one flight each year with the approximate flight time APR15-JUN15 in the northern part of the range and APR1-MAY15 in the southern part of their range (Scott 1986).

This is a species of the Great Plains, found in the southern Prairie Provinces south to Texas and east to extreme southern Quebec. There are also isolated populations in the Appalachians (Opler 1999).

There are three superficially similar marble species in the province. The Olympia Marble is unlike other marbles in that the green markings of the underside are quite reduced, with a banded rather than a blotchy appearance. This species is also restricted to prairie grassland habitat.

The larval food plants are currently not known in Alberta; elsewhere, flowers and seeds of wild mustards are eaten, such as rock cresses (Arabis spp.) and Hedge Mustard (Sisymbrium officinale) (Layberry et al. 1999). Nectar sources for adults have not been reported in Canada; in Michigan, Olympia Marbles can be found at the flowers of wild mustards (Brassicaceae), wild strawberry, and lupines (Nielsen 1999).

The Olympia Marble has been classified globally as G5/G4, meaning that globally it is a relatively stable species. The United States has not placed it under any watch as a country. However, it is in danger due to Gypsy Moth chemical control.
Euchloe Olympia exhibits individualistic behavior in many aspects. Such as its phenotype and genotype but also its feeding and mating behavior.

L'Olympe (Euchloe olympia) est un insecte lépidoptère de la famille des Pieridae, de la sous-famille des Pierinae et du genre Euchloe.
Dénomination
Euchloe olympia a été nommé par Edwards en 1871[1]
Noms vernaculaires
L'Olympe se nomme Olympia Marble ou Olympia Marblewing en anglais[1],[2].

Euchloe olympia rosa (Edwards, 1882).
Description
L'Olympe est un papillon blanc à reflet rose d'une envergure variant de 30 à 51 mm. Le dessus est blanc avec à l'apex de l'aile antérieure une plage de marbrures gris clair et une étroite cellule discoïdale de couleur grise. Le revers de l'aile antérieure est blanc avec une tache discoïdale étroite et celui de l'aile postérieure est orné de larges marbrures jaune verdâtre dessinant trois bandes[3]..
Chenille
La chenille, de couleur verte, est ornée de lignes jaunes et de lignes grises[3].
Biologie
Période de vol et hivernation
Il vole en une seule génération de fin mai à début juin, plus tôt au Texas[3],[2].
Il hiverne au stade de chrysalide[4]
Plantes hôtes
Les plantes hôtes de la chenille sont des Arabis et Sisymbrium officinale[1].
Écologie et distribution
L'Olympe est présent dans l'Arizona, le Montana, le Colorado, le Texas et les états de la région des Grands Lacs. Il existe aussi des populations isolées dans les Appalaches de la Pennsylvanie au Tennessee[1],[4],[2]. Il est aussi présent au Canada dans le sud de l'Alberta et du Manitoba ainsi que depuis le nord du lac Huron jusque dans l'ouest du Québec, car depuis les années 1970 il aurait étendu au Canada son aire vers l'est[3].
Biotope
L'Olympe réside dans tous types de prés secs.
Protection
L'habitat des populations isolées est protégé[4].
