Nitzschia amphibia is a species of diatoms in the family Bacillariaceae. They are native to Pará, Rio Grande Do Sul, Paraná, SãO Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, GoiáS, and Pernambuco. Dead Nitzschia amphibia form siliceous oozes.

The least common type of sediment, it covers only 15% of the ocean floor. It accumulates at a slower rate than calcareous ooze: 0.2-1 cm / 1000 yr.
