They are native to Rio Grande Do Sul, Distrito Federal, Rio De Janeiro, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Mata Atlântica, Santa Catarina, Paraná, SãO Paulo, and Minas Gerais. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Gilded Hummingbird, Planalto Hermit, Violet-capped Woodnymph, and Scale-throated Hermit. Individuals can grow to 1.4 m.
