Description

Annual. Stems erect or prostrate, sometimes rooting at the nodes. Leaves simple; lamina 2-4 cm long, elliptic to broadly lanceolate, strigulose above, obscurely gland-dotted beneath. Stipules 2-3 mm long, subulate. Inflorescence an axillary 10-15-flowered raceme; pedicels reflexed. Calyx lobes several times as long as tube. Corolla not much longer than the calyx, orange-red. Pod 1-seeded, indehiscent, sickle-shaped, 3-angled, bearing stiff, hooked spines on the two lower angles.
