Uredinia hypophyllous, scattered or gregarious, round, small, 0.2-0.5 mm. in diameter somewhat tardily naked, pulverulent, chestnut-brown, ruptured epidermis conspicuous; urediniospores obovate or globoid, flattened laterally, when viewed with pores in face view 20-26 by 23-28 m, when in side view 16-20 by 23-28 /x; wall dark cinnamon-brown, 2-2.5 ^ thick, moderately and prominently echinulate, the pores 2, equatorial.
III. Telia not seen; teliospores occasional in the uredinia, oblong, clavate, or obovoid, 20-24 by 38-48 /x, rounded above, rounded or somewhat narrowed below, noticeably constricted at septum; wall light cinnamon-brown, thin, 1.5-2 /x, lighter above and thicker, 3-5 /*> smooth; pedicel colorless, equaling spore or shorter.
