Aeschynomene americana (Shyleaf) is a species of shrub in the family legumes. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Rio De Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Pantanal, Caatinga, Cerrado, Paraná, Minas Gerais, ParaíBa, Bahia, Piauí, GoiáS, SãO Paulo, The Contiguous United States, Espirito Santo, Ceará, AmazôNia, Maranhao, Tocantins, Acre (Brazil), Mata Atlântica, Roraima, Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Puerto Rico, Distrito Federal, Pará, RondôNia, Rio Grande Do Norte, and Pernambuco. They have compound, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Barred Yellow. Individuals can grow to 0.97 m.
