Shrubs semi-evergreen or evergreen, ± erect, to 2 m tall, irregularly branched. Branchlets grayish brown, initially yellowish gray strigose, glabrescent. Leaves spirally arranged; petiole 1–4 mm, villous; stipules lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, 2–3 mm, membranous, villous; leaf blade dark green adaxially, elliptic or lanceolate-elliptic, (1.5–)1.7–3(–4) × (0.7–)0.9–2.5 cm, subleathery, abaxially gray appressed villous, later subglabrous, adaxially glabrous, base obtuse or cuneate, apex acute, slightly acuminate, or obtuse, rarely rounded, mucronulate. Corymbs erect, 1–2.5 cm, 5–12-flowered; rachis and pedicels initially pilose, glabrescent. Flowers 9–10 mm in diam. Hypanthium campanulate, abaxially ± pilose. Sepals triangular, apex acute. Petals spreading, white or pinkish, suborbicular, 3–4 mm in diam., adaxially puberulous near base, base broadly clawed, apex obtuse. Stamens shorter than petals. Carpels 1 or 2; styles not exceeding stamens. Fruit red to bright red, subglobose, 9–10.5 mm in diam., glabrous; pyrenes 1 or 2 united into 1. Fl. May–Jun, fr. Sep–Oct. 2n = 68.
