Description

Robust perennial herb with a simple stem, up to 1.5 m tall, growing from a creeping, woody rootstock. Basal leaves up to 60 cm long, tapering into a long, clasping pseudopetiole, more or less narrowly elliptic, 3-veined from the base; hairless above, whitish tomentose below; stem leaves oblong-lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, up to c. 14 cm long. Capitula in clusters forming a large, much-branched corymbose head. Involucral bracts creamy-white, c. 6-seriate, up to 3 mm long, obovate-oblong. Florets yellow.
