Sanguinaria canadensis (Bloodroot) is a species of perennial herb in the family Papaveraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Canada, The Contiguous United States, and Eastern North America. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by American Hover Fly, Cresson's Dialictus, Two-spotted Bumblebee, and Carlin's Andrena. Individuals can grow to 0.4 m.
