Dianthus caryophyllus (Carnation) is a species of perennial herb in the family carpetweeds. They have a self-supporting growth form. They have simple, broad leaves and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Common Branded Skipper, Argynnis niobe, Oedemera, and Magnificent Hummingbird. Individuals can grow to 0.4 m.
