They are native to Minas Gerais, ParaíBa, Caatinga, Rio Grande Do Sul, Pernambuco, Rio De Janeiro, Bahia, Ceará, Puerto Rico, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Paraná, Sergipe, Rio Grande Do Norte, Cerrado, The Contiguous United States, Alagoas, Mata Atlântica, and U.S. Virgin Islands. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Aporus niger, Cerceris prominens, Carpenter Bees, and Agrilus egenus. Individuals can grow to 0.64 m.
