Amaranthus spinosus (Thorny Pigweed) is a species of shrub in the family Amaranthaceae. They are native to The Contiguous United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. They have capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Coelioxys alternata, Euderces picipes, Dark Grass Blue, and Falsomordellistena pubescens. Individuals can grow to 12 dm.
