Amaranthus spinosus (Spiny Amaranth) is a species of shrub in the family Amaranthaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and The Contiguous United States. They have simple, broad leaves and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Chelynia, Sarcophaga sinuata, Lygus pratensis, and Osphya varians. Individuals can grow to 0.87 m.
