Echinocystis lobata (Balsam Apple) is a species of annual herb in the family Cucurbitaceae. They are climbers. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to The Contiguous United States and Canada. They have simple, broad leaves and loculicidal capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Holcopasites heliopsis, Haltichella xanticles, Nemotelus glaber, and Ophyra leucostoma. Individuals can grow to 3.7 m.
