They are native to Cambodia, India, Myanmar, Australia, Solomon Islands, Indonesia, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, New Caledonia, The Philippines, Madagascar, Thailand, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Laos, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Kenya, Fiji, Seychelles, and United States. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 12 m.
