Melia azedarach (Chinaberrytree) is a species of tree in the family Meliaceae. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is native to Australia, India, Solomon Islands, New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Japan, China, and the Indo-Malayan Realm. Chinaberrytree has compound, broad leaves and purple flowers. Flowers are visited by Ceratina penicillata Friese 1905. Chinaberrytree is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 50 feet. Reproduction is andromonoecious.
