It is a viscid-hairy, stout, erect annual or perennial plant. Lower leaves are lanceolate, pinnatifid; while the upper leaves are sessile. Flowers are with dull purple, dark-veined corolla with broad spreading lobes and tubular-campanulate fruiting calyx with raised veins and spiny recurved teeth.
