Il Saboya virus (SABV) è un arbovirus della famiglia Flaviviridae, genere Flavivirus, appartiene al IV gruppo dei virus a ((+) ssRNA). Il virus SEPV appartiene al gruppo dei virus della febbre gialla, gruppo costituito da nove specie del genere flavivirus.^[1]^[2]

Virologia

Il (SABV) è presente in Nigeria e Senegal^[3] ed anche in Guinea.^[4]

Il virus SABV ha un genoma noto.^[3]

Il virus ha un vettore sconosciuto^[3] anche se ricerche indicherebbero essere i Phlebotominae, tra i quali vi è il (Phlebotomus papatasi);^[5]^[6] mentre l'animale ospite è il pipistrello Nycteris gambiensis^[7] ed anche piccoli roditori.^[8]^[9]
