Description

Erect annual herb, up to c. 60 cm tall, unbranched or with few branches from the base. Stems often whitish, hairy. Leaves opposite or whorled with additional smaller leaves, ovate, up to c. 4 × 2.5 cm, softly hairy, rounded at the apex; margin crenate except for the lower third. Flowers in 1-5 spaced axillary, sessile, heads. Calyx tubular, up to 14 mm long at flowering time, somewhat 2-lipped, 6-toothed. Corolla up to 20 mm long, white, 2-lipped; upper lip with a fringe of bristly hairs at the apex; lower lip broad, 2-lobed.
