Diagnosis: mouth subterminal; barbels absent; lateral line incomplete; 20-22 scales in lateral line with 3-4 perforated scales; 10-12 circumpeduncular scales; black stripe (as broad as eye) from eye to origin of caudal peduncle; anterior margin of dorsal fin black (Ref. 81639).Description: small-sized; dorsal profile slightly convex; scales with divergent striae; 3.5 scales between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 3.5 scales between lateral line and mid-belly; 20-22 scales in lateral line; 2 scales between lateral line and pelvic fin insertion; D:III,8; A:III,5; P:12-13; V:9; dorsal fin border straight, last simple ray flexible, not serrated, as long as head (Ref. 81639).Coloration: ground color yellowish dorsally, with large black longitudinal line running from eye along flanks, slightly declining posteriorly to unite with line of opposite side under caudal peduncle; snout sulphur yellow; dorsal fin yellow with black anterior border and sometimes also black at base of rays; pectoral fins greyish with upper rays sometimes slightly darker; pelvics yellow with black external rays; yellow or orange spot at base of caudal fin (Ref. 81639).
