Common in riverine and floodplain habitats, frequently in association with the striped robber (Brycinus lateralis). Frequency of occurence in Caprivi: frequently in sandy streams, occasionally on rocky streams, common in standing deep water, abundant in shallow swamps, and occasionally in shallow flood plains (Ref. 037065). Feeds on insects and small organisms.
