MATERIAL EXAMINED.—Suruga Bay: Tansei Maru cruise KT69-12, sta 5 (18 with eggs 12, 40, 5 juv).

Sagami Bay: Tansei Maru cruise KT69-12, sta 14 (1); sta 21 (80 with eggs, 169, 326, 74 juv); sta 24 (4 with eggs, 7, 4, 5 juv). Tansei Maru cruise KT71-2, sta 26 (1 with eggs, 1); sta 27 (1). Off Kisami, 30 Aug 1969 (1 with eggs, 1, 1, 2 juv); 22 May 1970 (25 with eggs, 71, 56, 114 juv), 1 Nov 1970 (31 with eggs, 78, 88, 80 juv), 16 May 1971 (9 with eggs, 3, 18, 6 juv). MATERIAL EXAMINED.—HOKKAIDO: Off Hamanaka Bay, 42°51.8′N, 145°25.6′E, 321–328 m, KT83-11, sta 26B, 10 Jul 1983 (1). HONSHU: Kii Strait, 33′i°23.9′N, 135°42.1′E, 353–416 m, KT84-12, sta 7, 31 Aug 1984 (2). Sagami Bay, off Misaki, 110–122 m, 10 Jul 1985 (2 with eggs, 1 juv); 53 m, 11 Apr 1986 (2 with eggs, l 1). Off Kisami, 36–42 m, 16 Dec 1982 (2 with eggs, 3, 9); 37–45 m, 23 Aug 1982 (5 5); 18–28 m, 24 Aug 1982 (1 with eggs, 1). DISTRIBUTION.—This species has not been known to occur in western Kyushu and the Korea Strait although it has been taken in southern Kyushu. It has been taken as far north as the Sea of Okhotsk and as deep as 618 meters.
