Diagnosis: This species is distinguished from its congener Luciobarbus nasus by the combination of following characters: a more rounded snout, although relatively elongated; a wider interorbital space; the ossified ray of the dorsal fin is shorter and weaker; and a shorter pectoral fin.Description: Dorsal fin with 3 unbranched rays and 8 branched rays; the third simple ray is ossified and finely denticulated posteriorly; anal fin with 3 unbranched rays and 5 branched rays (Ref. 114102).Colouration: The colouration is violet brown or olive on the dorsal side and flanks, yellow or orange on the ventral side (Ref. 114102).

Luciobarbus magniatlantis is a doubtfully distinct, ray-finned fish species in the family Cyprinidae. It is native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.

Its natural habitat is freshwater springs. It is considered a threatened species by the IUCN.

The taxonomy and systematics of the Maghreb barbs are subject to considerable dispute. Some authors consider L. magniatlantis a distinct species, while others include it in L. nasus.
