Figs. 1-6. SEM of Prorocentrum arabianum sp. nov. (1) Cells are broadly oval and asymmetrical in right valve view. The periflagellar area is at the anterior cell end. The cell's margin is smooth. (2) The anterior end of the left valve is asymmetrical and slightly concave in left valve view. (3) The periflagellar area is V-shaped, un-armored broad triangle. The longitudinal flagellum (arrows) and transverse flagellum (arrowheads) emerge from a large flagellar pore (F). The auxiliary pore (A) is small. (4) The valve surface is rugose with evenly distributed poroids. The cell's anterior end is flat. (5) Ventral view of a cell. The intercalary band is smooth with fine horizontal striation (arrows). (6) The rugose surface has round to oval poroids, shallow depressions that exhibit small, around pore at the center.
