Vernonia is a genus of shrub in the family Asteraceae. They are climbers. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and U.S. Virgin Islands. Flowers are visited by Apis mellifera, Polites peckius, Hylephila phyleus, and Euphyes vestris. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
