Tall perennial herb to 2 m. Stems winged below. Basal leaves glabrous, to 50 cm with a long petiole-like base and thick midrib; margin dentate. Cauline leaves similar but smaller. Inflorescence of numerous terminal corymbs. Capitula radiate; ray florets 5-8, yellow.
