A small tree with glabrous branches; leaves alternate, 3-foliolate, petioled.the petioles subcylindric, 5-7.5 cm. long; leaflets glabrous, the lateral subsessile, elliptic, 7-12 cm. long, 3-5.3 cm. broad, acuminate at the apex, obliquely rounded or somewhat obtuse at the base, the terminal leaflet short-petioluled and somewhat larger; midrib prominent beneath; inflorescence terminal, exceeding the leaves; pedicels pubescent; calyx deeply parted, the lobes ovate, acute, persistent in fruit; corolla-lobes linear-oblong, obtuse, coriaceous, appressed sericeo-pilose ; the two fertile stamens with pubescent, flat, linear-lanceolate filaments, the anthers oblong ; the sterile stamens linear-subulate, gland-tipped ; disk 10toothed, surrounding the ovary ; style long, filiform ; stigma indistinctly 5-lobed ; fruit solitary at the ends of the branches; carpels oblong, 1 cm. long, short-apiculate ; seed subglobose, black, slightly rough.
