Description: Characterized by semi-transparent pinkish color with red-brown midlateral stripe; brown spot at middle of caudal fin base, prominent white spot immediately above; greatest depth of body 3.1-3.6 in SL (Ref. 90102).

分布於東印度-西太平洋區，包括東印度洋的Cocos-Keeling 群島及西太平洋的澎湖群島及日本。

體長圓而側扁。頭大。吻長。眼大。D. VII+I，8-9；A. II，8-9。體呈透明淡紅色，死後偏白；體側自吻端至尾柄具一暗紅色之縱帶，縱帶末端成一圓點，上方另有一白點。

主要棲息於急降礁石的洞穴中、清澈的外礁區緣或珊瑚礁壁等。白天停留在岩礁下方或洞穴內，晚上則外出覓食多毛類以及其它小型底棲無脊椎動物。/Apogon dispar/為同種異名。
