Description: Characterized by orange brown body color, shading to olive grey posteriorly; side of body with about 17 orange-red bars; numerous small pale green to whitish flecks dorsally and midlaterally on posterior two-thirds of body; peduncular plates, yellow; caudal fin, yellow; series of 8-10 keeled bony plates on posterior half of body, ending on caudal fin base; greatest depth of body 2.0-2.2 in SL (Ref. 90102).

Prionurus chrysurus is a tropical fish endemic to the coral reefs around Indonesia. The species was first described by John Ernest Randall in 2001. It is commonly known as the Indonesian sawtail. It can reach a maximum length of 30 centimetres (12 in).
