They are native to Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and Pacific Ocean. They are nocturnal carnivores. Individuals are known to live for 552 months and can grow to 3.8 m. Reproduction is viviparous. They have parental care (cooperative breeding and female provides care). They rely on swimming and lift powered swimming to move around.
