Description of holotype Snout rounded from above and in profile; canthus rostralis indistinct; loreal region slightly concave in profile; tympanum hidden; vomerine teeth in short transverse series, almost contiguous medially, lying between and posterior to choanae; first and second fingers about equal length, second just longer than first when equally adpressed; outer metacarpal tubercle rounded-ovate, inner metacarpal tubercle ovoid, separated from thumb subarticular tubercle by distance equal to less than diameter of subarticular tubercle; thumb lacking asperities; dorsal texture strongly granular, lacking shagreen and tubercles; very indistinct supratympanic fold; ventral texture weakly granular; toe tips not or just slightly swollen, about same diameter as digit width; toes with lateral ridges, no web; moderate subarticular tubercles; rounded, outer metatarsal tubercle smaller than ovoid inner metatarsal tubercle; no tarsal or metatarsal folds; posterior tarsus granular; sole of foot smooth. Measurement (in mm): snout-vent length 36.2, head length 12.3, head width 13.4, eye-nostril distance 3.0, eye-eye distance 6.1, femur 16.0, tibia 16.3, foot 16.6 mm. Pattern uniform dark brown gray above, lighter uniform brown gray below and on posterior surface of thigh Adult specimen definition Based on 35 specimens. Thumbs lacking asperities; snout rounded in profile; dorsum uniform or blotched; posterior surface of thigh uniform; no distinctive colors in life; dorsal texture strongly granular, lacking shagreen or tubercles, usually no dorsal ridges present, rarely short irregular ridges present; toes with lateral ridges, rarely almost free, foot usually without web, rarely trace of basal webbing present; male snout-vent length 29.8±2.3, maximum 32.4 mm, female 35.6±2.4, maximum 39.6 mm, females larger than males (t = 6.0, P < ,001); male head length/snout-vent length ratio 0.36± .01, female 0.34±1; male head width/snout-vent lenght ratio 0.39± .01, female 0.38± .01; male eye-nostril distance/ snout-vent lenght ratio 0.08± .01; female 0.08 ± .01; male eye-eye distance/ snout-vent length ratio 0.19± .01, female 0.18 ± .01; male femur/snout-vent length ratio 0.47± .02, female 0.44± .02; male tibia/snout-vent length ratio 0.48 ± .01, female 0.45 ± .02; male foot/snout-vent length ratio 0.50 ± .02, female 0.47 ± .02. Larval morphology Larvae are elongate and depressed. The tail fins are low, present only on the distal half of the tail. The belly is flattened and has a shallowly bilobed flap which extends posteriorly past the body. The spiracle, if present, is not visible. The anus is median. The eye is moderately large, 16-19% of the head-body length. The oral disk is broad, 39-41% of the head-body length. The oral disk is entire. The anterior papilla gap is broad, almost the width of the disk. The oral papillae are in a single row, continuous posteriorly. The tooth row formula is 2(2)/3(1) the split tooth row halves either abutting or overlapping medially. The beak has strong and deep central cusps. The head-body length is 24-2Wo the total length. The largest total length is 29.3 mm of a stage 36 (Gosner 1960) larva. The body is uniform dark brown above, mottled on the sides, and unpigmented below; the tail ranges from almost uniform brown above to a pattern with light dorsal ocelli, the tail venter is unpigmented.

Cycloramphus valae est une espèce d'amphibiens de la famille des Cycloramphidae[1].

Répartition

Cette espèce est endémique du Sud du Brésil[1]. Elle se rencontre dans les États de Santa Catarina et du Rio Grande do Sul entre 400 et 900 m d'altitude dans l'extrême sud de la Serra Geral.

Description

Les mâles mesurent jusqu'à 32,4 mm et les femelles jusqu'à 39,6 mm[2].

Étymologie

Cette espèce est nommée en l'honneur de Francisca Carolina do Val[2].

Etimologia

Esta espécie é nomeada em homenagem a Francisca Carolina do Val.

Distribuição

Esta espécie é endêmica do Sul do Brasil. Ocorre nos estados de Santa Catarina e Rio Grande do Sul entre 400 e 900 m de altitude no extremo sul da Serra Geral.

Está presente no Parque Nacional da Serra Geral e na Reserva Biológica do Aguaí.

Descrição

Os machos medem até 32,4 mm e fêmeas até 39,6 mm.

Os seus habitats naturais são: florestas subtropicais ou tropicais húmidas de baixa altitude e rios.

Está ameaçada por perda de habitat.
