Test free and of hard to friable consistency. All described species have totally different test morphologies. Type species has three-dimensional star-shaped test with four branches. In other species test forms compact, rounded lump, irregular plate (sometimes with smaller side plates), or subtriangular plate with short, root-like bars at base. Interior consists of loose accumulation of xenophyae between which grane-llare and stercomare interweave. Surface xenophyae form firmly cememted layer Occurrence: Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans, bathymetric range 1320m-5353m. Type species Galatheammina tetraedra Tendal,1972.
