Test of friable consistency, lumpy and composed of numerous thin layers of xenophyae arranged in wafer-like stack. Granellare and stercomare occupy flat spaces between these layers. Occurrence: Central Pacific, 4438-5353m. Only known species Cerelpemma radiolarium (Haeckel, 1889) Test light grey in colour, forming more or less irregular, rounded mass 5-25mm diameter. Xenophyae exclusively radiolarian tests cemented into numerous thin layers' each consisting of single layer of particles. Intervening spaces are of approximately same thickness as layers themselves.
