Test free, fragile and of brittle to friable consistency. Irregular in shape but tending to be approximately rounded or plate-like in general form. Short, root-like structures and lobate protuberances sometimes developed. Xenophyae are mixture of different sized planktonic foraminiferal tests, with overall nature and size distribution homogeneous throughout test. Stercomare strands consist of thicker sections connected by narrow necks. Occurrence: Northeast Atlantic, eastern equatorial Pacific; bathymetric range 2963-4550m. Type species Homogammina lamina Gooday and Tendal, 1988.
