A suffrutescent shrublet with many or rarely solitary, erect, upright, slightly striate, straw pale, densely arachnoid hairy to glabrescent, branched panicle bearing shoots from the woody, vertical, branched pulvinate, thickened rootstock. Basal and lower stem leaves petiolate, broadly oblong-ovate, 2 – 4 x 1 – 2 cm, 2-3-pinnatisect into lanceolate, 1 – 3 x c. 1 mm, ± acuminate ultimate segments; middle and upper stem leaves almost sessile,broadly auriculate, 2-pinnatisect to pinnatifid or palmatisect; uppermost in floral region linear, entire. Capitula small, sessile, or ± pedunculate, entire, ovate, 2.5 – 3 x 1.25 mm, distinctly remote except towards the apices, in narrowly pyramidate panicle with 3 – 6 (-15) cm long, ± horizontally or obliquely spreading branches. Receptacle conical, glabrous. Involucre 5-6-seriate; phyllaries almost glabrous, shiring, outermost rotundate-ovate, very small, green, without scarious margins, inner oblong, c. 2.5 mm long, widely scarious-hyaline on margins, obtuse. Florets c. 4.
