Perennial herb with prostrate stems (in ours). Leaves subsessile. Flowers borne in clusters or umbels, lateral at the nodes. Corolla tube spherical, 5-angled at the base, cylindric above; lobes linear with reflexed margins. Corona a single series of 5 lobes. Anthers 2-locular. Pollinia erect. Follicles fusiform, large. Seeds brown, narrowly winged, with a tuft of hairs.
