Flowering from June to August; fruiting from August to September.
Campanula aristata is close relative of Campanula modesta, but differs from the latter in its ovary (calyx tube) and capsule almost cylindrical (vs. obovoid-conical), capsule 2-4 cm (vs. 0.7-2 cm), stems 10-50 cm tall (vs. 7-20 cm), middle cauline leaves 1.5-7 cm (vs. less than 2 cm).
Campanula aristata is occurring in S Gansu, E and S Qinghai, Shaanxi, NW and W Sichuan, Xizang, NW Yunnan of China, India, Nepal, Pakistan.
Herbs perennial. Roots thickened, carrot-shaped. Stems usually 2 to several, caespitose, erect, 10-50 cm tall. Basal leaves long petiolate, leaf blades ovate-orbicular to ovate-elliptic; lower and middle cauline leaves long petiolate, leaf blades lanceolate to broad-linear; middle and upper cauline leaves sessile, linear, 1.5-7 cm long, margin entire or sparsely dentate, all leaves glabrous. Calyx tube elongated, 0.5-1.5 cm long, ca. 1.5 mm in diameter; lobes filiform, 7-18 mm long, usually longer, less frequently shorter than corolla. Corolla blue or blue-purple, 7-15 mm long. Capsule cylindrical, slightly attenuated downwards, ca. 3 mm long. Seeds long ellipsoid, brown-yellow, ca. 0.7 mm.
Growing in alpine meadows or thickets; 3500-5000 m.
