Perennial up to 40 cm tall, much branched. Stems and branches greyish-white with dense adpressed hairs or sometimes sparsely so, a few arising from a bulbous base. Leaves (including petiole) 15-38 x 8-18 mm, ovate to lanceolate, hairs adpressed. Nerves impressed on the upper surface. Margin entire to ± undulate, base cuneate to sometimes attenuate, apex subacute. Inflorescence terminal, short, few flowered. Calyx 5-partite; lobes lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, 2-2.5 mm long, densely hairy outside. Corolla 3-4 mm long, hairy to the outside, glabrous within; lobes 1-1.5 mm long, narrow, acute, inflexed when young; suberect later, sinuses narrow, not lobed. Anthers 1-1.5 mm long, elongated, attached c. 1 mm from corolla base. Stigma 1 mm long, conical, sparsely hairy to glabrous; style much shorter, glabrous. Ovary densely silky, becoming glabrescent with age. Fruit 2-2.5 mm broad, globose; nutlets appressed hairy when young, ovoid, 2.5-3 mm long, brown to darkbrown.
