A variable species with both large and small leaves and plants and much variation in pubescence. A fairly common plant in the Himalayas.

Plants caespitose with thick rootstock, up to 30 cm tall. Stems many, erect to trailing, thin, hoary, pubescent. Leaves numerous, subsessile to shortly petiolate lanceolate to oval, hoary pubescent, 5 mm to 3 cm long, margin entire to Inflorescence in lax corymbs. Flowers pedicellate, campanulate, 5 mm to Calyx about 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the corolla, calyx teeth acute, triangular to lanceolate. Corolla pale-violet to blue, up to 2 cm long; style hairy, included or as the corolla tube.
