Biology

provided by Halictidae LifeDesk

Nothing is known of the biology of any Temnosoma species, but they are presumably parasitic, meaning they enter the nests of other bees and lay eggs in the host bees’ cells, killing the host larva. Their hosts may be species of Augochloropsis or Augochlora.

The range of Temnosoma is large, from Southern Arizona to Northern Argentina, and also Jamaica and Cuba.
