Phaeostrymon Alcestis is resident in North America, and found in three separate populations in the southern United States and into Mexico (Scott 1986). Habitats are southern prairie valleys. hedgerows, and desert foothill canyons. Host plants is the tree Sapindus saponaria var. drummondii (Sapindaceae). Eggs are laid on twigs of the host plant singly. Individuals overwinter as eggs. There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time June15-early July in the northern part of the range and April1-June30 in the southern part of their range (Scott 1986).
