Diagnosis: mouth terminal or lower lip projected; 6.5-7.5 scales between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 42-47 scales in lateral line; 6.5-7.5 scales between lateral line and mid-ventral line; 16 circumpeduncular scales (Ref. 81639). Description: medium-sized species, body elongated; lips rather strongly developed, lower lip interrupted on chin; two pairs of barbels, anterior pair very small, posterior pair measuring half of eye diameter; scales longitudinally striated; D: IV, 9-10; A: III, 5; lateral line complete; dorsal fin with feeble concave border, last dorsal spine strong and ossified, not serrated, measuring 0.5-0.67x HL (Ref. 81639).Coloration: ground color silvery, brown ventrally; fins orange (Ref. 81639).
